OVERVIEW CR-V

An important, but often forgotten question comes with Honda's compact crossover, the CR-V…what does CR-V stand for? Honda says its small SUV is a 'Comfortable Runabout Vehicle'. So Honda's mission is clear, but in this highly competitive segment, it needs to be more than those two defining qualities. The manufacturers in this segment have to offer a vehicle that is spacious, fuel-efficient and packed with creature comforts.
The fifth generation of CR-V appeared in 2017 and received a few light updates for the 2018 model year. The fifth-generation features a distinct exterior design with vertical taillights and boldface. Between the wheels, the cabin features enough space to happily accommodate taller individuals and all of their belongings in the massive trunk space. The trunk capacity is a stand out feature of the CR-V with a very low loading lip. This design, in turn, leads to less strain to the user when lifting heavy items into the trunk. Front row passengers have the standard 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto within reach and standard heated seats just below.
The entry-level CR-V, the LX 2WD, comes with front-wheel drive, but all remaining trims come with Real-Time AWD that works with a 1.5L turbocharged four-cylinder engine and the continuously variable transmission. The sole engine choice produces 190 horsepower and 179lb/ft. It's a small but pokey engine that's eager to rev and packs the punch required to overtake quickly. The customer will receive the extra traction with the AWD upgrade as the AWD includes HondaSensing active safety systems. This suite includes the auto high beams, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, lane keep assist, and more.
Other equipment found in the CR-V includes a heated steering wheel, the heated outside rear seats, power tailgate, and leather seats. Stepping into the Touring, Honda's top specification grants the driver with some exclusive pieces such as the full glass sunroof, the digital instrument cluster, blind-spot monitoring system, chrome-tipped exhausts, and a few more smaller elements.
The CR-V succeeds in its defining mission, but crucially, in many other areas as well. It's engaging to drive, very easy to live with and offers more than enough kit to satisfy its drivers. It has long been a well-established player in this segment and will continue to be. Check out the CR-V today at Calgary Honda in the south of Calgary.
